VSII Overview The Visionsense VSii system is a complete solution enabling surgeons to use a minimally invasive stereoscopic (3D) camera, for neurosurgical applications. The system has been successfully used by surgeons in a wide range of MIS procedures. The VSII system has 510(k) clearance and is CE Mark approved.
Surgeons Benefits: Treat extended skull-base and keyhole neurosurgical lesions in a minimally invasive manner, safely and reproducibly Improved depth perception and a clearer understanding of complex surgical anatomy scenarios Improved ergonomics resulting in easy operation and reduced fatigue Decreased learning curve
Potential Patient Benefits: Improved clinical outcomes Safer operation Increased satisfaction Reduced discomfort Shorter operation time Faster recovery and return to normal activities Improved cosmetics through Natural Orifice Surgery with no visible scars or
smaller incisions
VSII System
VSII enables surgeons to enjoy the benefits of an endoscope and a stereoscopic operating room (OR) microscope in a single device. Delivering depth perception with no trade-off in magnification and focus, the miniature microscope offers distinct advantages over existing visualization technologies
A unique bee’s eye view
VSII, with its single 3-D sensor merely 3.3mm in diameter, imitates an insect’s compound eye using advanced image processing algorithms. The resulting natural stereoscopic vision enhances neurosurgical accuracy and performance beyond previously achievable limits.
Surgeons have successfully performed a wide range of MIS procedures with the company’s device. The VSII product can be integrated into most modern operating rooms. Unlike traditional rack systems, this device is sold in a modern, functional unibody design. Networking with existing equipment and protocols is fast and convenient. The systems are fully upgradeable and include automatic parameter control, customization of surgeon’s preference, digital recording and site-specific customization
The VSII system provides a full visualization solution in a user friendly configuration, which is operated with a single on/off button.
System components:
1 Camera Control Unit (CCU) – The CCU consists of a single Pentium PC with proprietary VisionSense hardware and software. 2) 3D Stereoscopic Display Monitor - The CCU connects to a stereoscopic display with flexible arm for multiple viewing angles (requires glasses). - A 32" LCD display - Optional: A 46"/32" LCD display as a secondary display. - The system can connect to any monocular display in the OR
1) Video Cart - specifically designed to maximize surgeon ergonomics and minimize the footprit in the operating room.
The VSII system can be integrated into most modern operating rooms. It has a modern, functional unit body design and can be easily networked with existing equipment and protocols. The VSII system includes automatic parameter control, customization of surgeon’s preference, digital recording and site-specific customization.
User friendly operation The VSII system is a one button operational system. With one push of the button the system is turned on and boots up to ready mode. The Visionsense integrated camera and LED light source is plugged into the CCU.
Cameras The VSII system will use various configurations of cameras using the Visionsense proprietary 3.3mm CCD sensor within its scope housing. All cameras are validated for STERRAD™ Steris, and ETO Sterilization methods, and are reusable for multiple procedures. Camera types: Length 300mm- 0 degree, 30 degree
Length 200mm- 0 degree, 30 degree
LED Light Source The VSII uses its own handle and an integrated, miniature LED light source with a built-in, automatic gain control, which illuminates the surgical field with just a few watts of power.
Camera Handle The Camera Handle is light weight and has an ergonomic design to facilitate tool maneuvering and extended periods of handling. It delivers a single video connection to the console and has programmable buttons for easy endoscope control and menu activation
